It has led to a herd that is ready to produce at high levels. The herd consistently does around the 500 kgs of milk solids per cow on a hilly farm in Northland where the drought hits them hard. They generally peak at 2.7milk solids a day per cow in the spring.
In 2024 their average SCC was 47,000 which ranked 14th for Fonterra.
The herd currently contains 5 animals that are contract mated with CRV.
The herd is all Holstein Friesian with the cows currently registered with Holstein Friesian New Zealand, the herd is 100% registered ancestry and fully DNA\'d.
This is the perfect herd to shift into a fully fed system and they will really produce high milk solids and are built to be able to do it.
